Henry Horenstein

Henry Horenstein studied history at The University of Chicago before coming to RISD to study with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally, and he is author of over 30 books, including monographs (Honky Tonk, Animalia, Racing Days, Show, Close Relations, Histories) and widely used textbooks (Black & White Photography Beyond Basic Photography, Digital Photography). In the last few years, he has been working on documentary video (Murray, Partners, Spoke). Henry is currently Professor of Photography and Illustration at RISD.

Lorie Novak is an artist and Professor of Photography & Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU and Associate Faculty at The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. Her photographs, installations, and Internet projects explore issues of memory and transmission, the relationship between the intimate and the public, and the shifting cultural meanings of photographs. John Gossage

John Gossage is one of America’s leading contemporary photographers and bookmakers. In 2002, Gossage started his own publishing company, Loosestrife Editions, which has published a number of photographic monographs. His first monograph, The Pond (1985), has just been republished to great acclaim. Other notable works include The Thirty-Two Inch Ruler/Map of Babylon (2010), Nothing (2014) and pomodoiri a grappolo (2015). He is represented by the Stephen Daiter Gallery in Chicago and Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco. His work is represented in major public and private collections, including The National Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the Australian National Gallery in Canberra. His photographs have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past 45 years. His one-person exhibitions include The Romance Industry, Comune di Venezia, Venice, (2003), Berlin in the Time of the Wall, Gallerie Zulauf, Freinsheim, (2005) and Three Routines, Art Institute of Chicago, (2014). Gossage was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2012. He lives and works in Washington D.C.
